American Maritime Officers is a national labor union representing licensed U.S. merchant mariners aboard U.S.-flagged commercial, government and military sealift vessels operating on the world's oceans, the Great Lakes, U.S. inland waterways and in major harbors. AMO officers also sail in the energy transportation trades aboard international LNG carriers. AMO members train at the AMO Safety and Education Plan?s STAR Center, which offers a comprehensive curriculum of U.S. Coast Guard certified maritime training, upgrading, certification and full-mission simulation programs for merchant marine officers sailing in all departments and all trades.
